SPRING BALL FAQ

When are tryouts?  When is the draft?

Tryouts are held by league age for the 2025 season as defined by the child’s age as of August 31, 2025.  These tryouts are the basis of placing players on teams for the season.  All players from every division except Tadpole (Rookie and Varsity) and Seniors must attend the tryout session on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at South Campus.

The drafts for all teams take place the week following tryouts.  Please note that all players are placed on teams.  Parents will be notified of their child's team by their team manager after team drafting is completed (January 12-18).  If you have not been contacted by your child's team manager by January 19, 2025 please contact your division director listed at the bottom of this page.

For more detailed information, visit our Spring Tryouts page.

What if my child cannot attend tryouts?

If your child cannot make tryouts, you should contact your division director listed at the bottom of this page.  All players will be placed on a team.

What equipment does the league provide?

The league will provide your child with a jersey, practice shirt, hat, and socks.

What do I need to purchase?

Your child will need a glove, batting helmet, baseball bat, baseball pants, belt, and appropriate shoes.  It is also helpful to have a bag to carry all of your child's equipment.  LABEL EVERYTHING.

A note on bats: Little League International implemented a new baseball bat standard, effective January 1, 2018.  Previously approved bats will no longer be acceptable for use in any Little League game or activity.  This new rule applies to all WULL divisions except for the Senior division.  Bats approved for use in 2025 will carry the USA Baseball logo. When purchasing a bat for play in the Little League 2025 season, please make sure the bat carries the Baseball USA logo.  Click here for more information.

How many kids are on each team?

Teams will typically have between 10-12 players.

When and how often will there be practice?

Most age groups (Varsity and older) will have two practices/week, consisting of one field practice and one batting cage practice.

When and how often do we have games?

Most age groups (PeeWee7 and older) will have two games/week.

How many games will we play in a season?

Most age groups will play 14-16 games/season for the regular season.  The Tadpole division (Rookie and Varsity) will play fewer games.

Can my twins play on the same team?

All twins will be placed on the same team.  Please include a note when registering that your child has a twin.

Can my daughter play for WULL?

All boys and girls who live within the WULL boundaries are eligible to play.  We welcome your daughter to play, and for our Rookie Divisions we will try to put at least 2 girls on a team if possible.  For the PeeWee 7 division and older, team selection is a true draft so we cannot guarantee multiple girls will be on the same team.

Can I request to be on a certain team or with a specific friend?

You may enter any requests during registration.  We attempt to honor requests in the Rookie divisions, but we cannot guarantee them.  For the PeeWee 7 and older, team selection is a true draft and it is hard to honor a coach or team requests
